Morro D’Alba is a small hilltop town within the province of Ancona, situated amongst the gently rolling hillsides between the valleys of the rivers Misa and Esino. Just 10km as the crow flies from the coast, the town lies between the ‘velvet beach’ of Senigallia and the beautiful town of Jesi with its 14th century castle walls which encompass a host of medieval buildings, renaissance and baroque. Just a short distance away are the national park areas of the stunning Conero Riviera and the Frasassi Gorge with its spectacular caves.

Other places of interest include:

  • Fabriano – ‘City of paper’ with its paper making museum.
  • Corinaldo – beautiful town boasting extremely well preserved fortifications.
  • Mondavio – with its famous ‘rocca’ (fort) designed by Francesco di Giorgio Martini which hosts small armoury museum.
  • Arcevia – ‘Pearl of the mountains’ perched on a crag high in the hills.
  • Osimo – ancient town with 12 headless Roman statues standing at the entrance to the 17th century town hall.
  • Cingoli – ‘balcony of the mountains’ with splendid views over the surrounding hillsides
  • Recanati – birthplace of Italian poet Giacomo Leopardi.
  • Loreto – dominated by its sanctuary ‘Santa Casa’(holy house).
